    Gender/MHPSS Program Officer

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • The program officer will act as a focal point to coordinate GENDER/MHPSS integration and reporting at the state level. 
    • Coordinate GBV and MHPSS case findings, screening, management and reporting to ACE 6 program team and relevant platform in coordination with your supervisor. 
    • Map GBV/MHPSS referral centers and ensure complete referrals of client for appropriate services. 
    • Ensure timely documentation of post GBV data on relevant database across the facilities for USAID monthly reporting. 
    • Ensure documentation of post GBV data on National MoWAs dashboard monthly and support the coordination of relevant state TWGs / platform in accordance with ACE 6 project objectives. 
    • Monitor collations and documentation of GENDER/MHPSS data in the state and support necessary follow ups.
    • Support the review of source document and follow up data with SI unit to ensure proper documentation.
    • Ensure continuous on the job capacity building sessions for colleagues, field and volunteer staff on the project to prevent implementation gaps. 
    • Ensure frequent step-down sessions with Health facility staff and HALG volunteers across the LGAs.
    • Support the SRH services awareness at the state level and linkage with SRH partners. 
    • Contribute to sharing of knowledge and promote relevant good practices as well as sharing information messages on GENDER and MHPSS with colleagues. 
    • Support the process of documentation of success stories, stories of change, challenges and lessons learnt on the field. 
    • Perform other duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or competency required.

    Education and Experience:

    • BSc in Psychology with at least 3 years of relevant work experience in a development or humanitarian setting. Experience in an HIV program will be an added advantage
    • Experience in Gender mainstreaming interventions across the HIV treatment and prevention cascade, providing comprehensive post Gender Based Violence (GBV) services and Mental Health / Psychosocial support programming. 
    • Understanding of HALG Gender and MHPSS Implementation approach 
    • Knowledge of USAID Gender program implementation guidelines and monitoring indicators is essential.
    • A positive attitude in working with vulnerable persons.
    • Familiarity with GBV/MHPSS national guidelines
    • Understanding the application of Gender and Gender equality in a facility-based program.
    • Demonstrated skills in training and capacity building on GBV/MHPSS topics.
    • Demonstrated commitment to gender-responsive programming.
    • Excellent skills in presentation, report writing, and stories of change.

    Language Skills:

    • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Local Language preferred.
    • Demonstrated competency in public speaking.

    Computer Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows operating systems, PowerPoint.
    • Other software routinely used by HALG.

    Work Environment:

    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • The employee will be required to co-locate with local partners usually in the same office.
    • The employee is required to travel regularly to often insecure and limited-resource environments.
