    Gender Based Violence Officer

    Location:  Mafa, Konduga and Bama LGAs of Borno State Northeast Nigeria

    Gender Based Violence Officer

    The Gender-Based Violence Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting our organization's efforts to combat gender-based violence (GBV) and promote gender equality. This position requires a dedicated and passionate individual who will work closely with survivors, community stakeholders, and partner organizations to prevent and respond to GBV incidents effectively. The Gender-Based Violence Officer will be responsible for coordinating and implementing programs, providing support to survivors, and raising awareness about GBV issues within the community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement programs and initiatives aimed at preventing and responding to gender-based violence.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure the effective execution of GBV programs.
    • Provide emotional support, counseling, and referrals to survivors of gender-based violence.
    • Facilitate access to essential services, including medical care, legal assistance, and shelter, for survivors as needed.
    • Conduct community outreach and educational campaigns to raise awareness about GBV, its causes, and consequences.
    • Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions on gender equality and violence prevention.
    • Collect and maintain accurate records and data related to GBV incidents and program outcomes.
    • Prepare regular reports and updates on program progress and impact with supervisor and donor.
    • Share monthly report with GBV sub-sector through 5ws and any other sector reporting template.
    • Engage with local authorities, government agencies, and civil society organizations to advocate for policies and legislation that address GBV and promote gender equality.
    • Provide training and capacity-building sessions for community leaders, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders on GBV prevention and response.
    • Build and maintain partnerships with local NGOs, community-based organizations, and relevant agencies to enhance GBV prevention and response efforts.

    • University degree or equivalent in Social Science, development studies, gender & development or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. 3 years’ experience. Proven experience working on normative change for gender equality and adolescent sexual and reproductive health in sensitive contexts.
