Financial & Operations Audit Officer at Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group)

We are seeking a Financial & Operations Audit Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will ensure the Audit Team adopts industry best practices in its Financial, Operational and Compliance Audit duties across NGX Group’s operations. The individual must have a strong Financial, Operational/Audit background and good people management skills. He/She will report to the Group Financial & Operations Auditor.

Responsibilities

• Audit to confirm cheques and other payments are received and accounted for in an appropriate form;
• Confirm appropriate approval, completeness of supporting documents, compliance to procurement policy and budget provisions;
• Confirm statutory deductions conform to prevailing rates and enabling Act. (Pension, PAYE, NHF);
• Confirm tax clearance is obtained for PAYE payments whilst WHT credit receipts are collected for consultants;
• Audit to ensure all income is deposited to approved banks;
• Review bank reconciliation statements for completeness to ensure all open items are investigated and closed;
• Confirm all bank balances are populated into cash flow statement on daily basis;
• Prepare plan/programme for operational audits of business units and departments, in line with Board approved Audit Plan/Timetable;
• Execute operations Audit and assess department operations, Process, Financial, Compliance and other associated risks;
• Conduct periodic follow-up reviews to ensure outstanding exceptions from both internal and external assessments are closed out;
• Evaluate sufficiency and appropriateness of audit evidence to support conclusions drawn;
• Confirm all fixed assets are covered in relevant insurance policies (Motor Vehicle, Burglar, fire, Special Peril);
• Investigate discrepancies in records and provide report.

Person Specification & Required Qualification (s)

• B.Sc./HND in Finance, Accounting, Economics or its equivalent;
• Relevant professional qualification/license CFA, ACA, FCA, CIS, CIBN is an advantage;
• Minimum of 4 years’ cognate experience post NYSC in an Audit role, top-tier Capital Market company or Financial Industry Operator;
• Strong knowledge of IFRS;
• Demonstratable knowledge of audit and regulatory requirements;
• Ability to build strong partnerships with business and staff members as well as communicate to a wide variety of audiences in clear, understandable language. This is in addition to being a skilled facilitator of group actions.
