    Finance Officer

    Role Summary

    • The Part-Time Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining proper financial records, supporting audits, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and regulatory obligations.
    • The role exists to keep the organisation financially disciplined, transparent, and funding-ready across all programs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Record all income and expenditure accurately and promptly.
    • Maintain well-organised digital financial records for all projects.
    • Prepare and manage organisational and program-level budgets.
    • Track spending against approved budgets and flag variances early.
    • Process payments and reimbursements with complete supporting documentation.
    • Perform regular bank and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
    • Support statutory filings, tax documentation, and regulatory requirements.
    • Support internal and external audits, including preparing schedules, evidence, and audit responses.
    • Prepare monthly financial reports for management.
    • Produce clear, donor-ready financial reports for funded projects.
    • Ensure all expenses comply with internal policies and donor guidelines.
    • Establish and enforce basic financial controls and approval workflows.
    • Develop and maintain simple finance templates and operating procedures.

    Requirements

    • Degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 1–2 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or NGO bookkeeping.
    • Practical experience with audits, financial controls, and reporting.
    • Strong working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets.
    • High level of accuracy, integrity, and organisation.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
    • Experience in an NGO or donor-funded environment is an advantage.
