The Part-Time Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining proper financial records, supporting audits, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and regulatory obligations.
The role exists to keep the organisation financially disciplined, transparent, and funding-ready across all programs.
Key Responsibilities
Record all income and expenditure accurately and promptly.
Maintain well-organised digital financial records for all projects.
Prepare and manage organisational and program-level budgets.
Track spending against approved budgets and flag variances early.
Process payments and reimbursements with complete supporting documentation.
Perform regular bank and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Support statutory filings, tax documentation, and regulatory requirements.
Support internal and external audits, including preparing schedules, evidence, and audit responses.
Prepare monthly financial reports for management.
Produce clear, donor-ready financial reports for funded projects.
Ensure all expenses comply with internal policies and donor guidelines.
Establish and enforce basic financial controls and approval workflows.
Develop and maintain simple finance templates and operating procedures.
Requirements
Degree or certification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–2 years’ experience in finance, accounting, or NGO bookkeeping.
Practical experience with audits, financial controls, and reporting.
Strong working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets.
High level of accuracy, integrity, and organisation.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Experience in an NGO or donor-funded environment is an advantage.
