    Finance Manager

    Job Description

    • The Finance Manager will oversee and coordinate the financial and administrative functions of TAConnect, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, Nigerian law, and organizational policies. Reporting to the DFAO, the Manager will provide technical guidance, reviewing financial reports, and ensuring efficient systems for budgeting, reporting, audits, and grants management. The Manager will serve as the primary link between the DFAO and the finance, ensuring operational excellence and organizational accountability. He/She will also ensure adherence to TAConnects’ policies and donor regulations in the states.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

    • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
    • Review financial statements, cashflow projections, and grant reports prepared by the Senior Officer before submission to the DFAO.
    • Ensure compliance with TAConnect, donor (BMGF, USAID, FCDO, GF, etc.), and statutory financial regulations.
    • Coordinate with the DFAO to update and implement internal control systems that safeguard organizational assets.
    • Monitor grant expenditure against budgets, ensuring variances are identified, explained, and addressed.
    • Lead the preparation of annual and program budgets in collaboration with program teams and the DFAO.
    • Monitor budget utilization and provide timely budget vs actual (BVA) reports with variance analysis.
    • Oversee donor financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to grant requirements.
    • Provide regular financial performance updates to management for decision-making.
    • Lead the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
    • Ensure all financial documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
    • Oversee grant financial management systems, ensuring sub-grants, partner contracts, and vendor payments comply with donor and TAConnect policies.
    • Provide capacity building and oversight for partners on financial management and reporting.
    • Supervise administrative processes, including advances, per diems, and workshop/training expense management.
    • Build the capacity of finance/admin staff in donor compliance, reporting, and financial systems.
    • Foster a culture of integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement in the finance and admin unit

    Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. A recognized professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is required. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in finance and administration, including at least 2 years at managerial level.
    • Strong background in donor-funded project finance management (BMGF, USAID, FCDO, GF, etc.).
    • Proven experience in supervising staff and building strong finance/admin teams.
    • Excellent knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and donor compliance requirements.
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced Excel; experience with ERP/accounting software is a strong advantage.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
    • High ethical standards, integrity, and commitment to transparency.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; knowledge of Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba is an added advantage.
    • Strong leadership and supervisory ability.
    • Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
    • Excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
    • Commitment to capacity building and knowledge transfer.
