KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oil & Gas Financial Operations

• Manage project accounting and cost control for oil and gas operations.
• Monitor project profitability and contract performance.
• Ensure compliance with industry-specific financial reporting requirements.
• Support tender pricing, contract evaluations, and commercial negotiations from a financial perspective.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management

• Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital efficiently.
• Maintain relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
• Optimize funding requirements and oversee debt obligations.
• Supervise payment processes while ensuring adequate financial controls.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations.
• Coordinate preparation and filing of statutory returns.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies including FIRS, state tax authorities, and other government agencies.
• Stay updated on changes in financial reporting standards and tax legislation.

Financial Management & Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to Executive Management and the Board.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Monitor financial performance and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
• Develop management reports, dashboards, and key financial performance indicators.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasts.
• Develop long-term financial plans aligned with corporate objectives.
• Monitor budget performance and investigate significant variances.
• Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives.

Internal Controls & Risk Management

• Strengthen and maintain effective internal control systems.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and financial procedures.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Implement recommendations arising from audit findings.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
• Establish performance objectives and drive continuous improvement.
• Promote a culture of accountability, ethics, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with other departments to achieve organizational objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is mandatory.
• MBA or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive finance experience, including:
• Significant finance experience within the oil and gas industry.
• At least 3–5 years with an accounting firm
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, taxation, financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, and internal controls.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Sage.
•  Experience with financial modelling and business analytics is highly desirable.
