    Finance Assistant

    Reporting to:  Finance Manager

    Based in: Maiduguri, with regular travel to Mubi South, Adamawa

    Key Responsibilities:

    Finance:

    • Prepare all payment vouchers pertaining to the projects.
    • Ensure the proper allocation of costs to appropriate budget line items in grants budget and in accordance with Street Child account codes.
    • Arrange for payments of utilities and any other regular payments required to ensure smooth functioning of the project
    • Maintain complete and accurate financial records, including all supporting documentation.
    • Ensure all supporting documentation is attached to the vouchers and that all costs allocated to grants comply with donor regulations and Street Child of Nigeria Policies.
    • Provide regular updates to Administrative and Finance Officer about financial issues in the project.
    • Perform other tasks as may be required by his/her supervisor.

    Administration:

    • Support with the day-to-day administrative functions of Street Child Adamawa based Girl’s Education Project to ensure integrity of operations and a safe working environment within the project.
    • Work with Finance & Operations department in Maiduguri to ensure compliance with Street Child of Nigeria administrative policies and procedures.
    • Manage all project assets and maintain an efficient and accurate asset inventory in coordination with the Head Office in Maiduguri.
    • Ensure compliance with all donor requirements and regulations of the project.

    Experience:

    • Experience (at least 1 year) of working in Nigeria with Finance
    • Experience of working in Yobe State, Borno State or Adamawa State (an advantage, but not a requirement)
    • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with marginalized communities

    Language:

    Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.

    Terms and Conditions:

    The contract is for 9 months, with an initial probationary period of 3 months. The salary will be proportioned to the candidate experience and balanced to the Street Child salary scale.
