Film Editor Job Description Template

We are looking for a freelance and part time film editor with video editing skills, a creative approach to capture the vision of a director, assess and assemble film footage, and meeting film deadlines.

You should demonstrate excellent time management skills, the ability to turn a vision into reality, and be highly artistic. 

Film Editor Responsibilities:

• Reviewing footage, uncut rushes and selecting scenes according to the vision for promoting a film.
• Trimming segments of footage.
• Collaborating with  and make revisions requested by film makers where possible.
• Assembling all footage, where required in preparation for inputting onto the computer
• Digitally cutting files to put together the sequence of a trailer and deciding what's usable
• Reordering and fine-tuning content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film subject matter.
• You may work on a variety of subject matter, including commercials or promo copy
• Experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements
• Online editing and finalising technical aspects such as correcting faulty footage, grading and colouring and adding special effects.

Film Editor Requirements:

• Previous industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of editing tools, techniques, and software.
• Must be familiar with camera equipment.
• Critical and analytical skills.
• Great patience and concentration.
• Organizational and time management skills.
