    Field Manager

    Job Summary

    • The Field Manager will play a central role in the success of the Nigeria Country Office and will gain valuable experience in leadership in the field, data collection and representing the IPA to various partners. The Field Manager will oversee a team of field officers and supervise data collection; will work closely with the Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to improve his/her own skills and those of his/her colleagues. He/she will be responsible for daily logistics; and will represent the project in County and Sub- County meetings with county heads, community leaders and other partners during the data collections phase. He/she will work closely with fellow Field Managers and Field officers. The Field Manager will be expected to work Monday through Friday and occasionally on weekends as needed.

    Responsibilities
    Data Collection Planning & Execution

    • Project Planning & Logistics: Develop comprehensive work schedules and action plans for qualitative and quantitative data collection. This includes managing team composition, budgeting, travel logistics, and establishing rigorous data-quality and spot-check protocols to ensure efficiency.
    • Documentation Development: Produce high-quality training manuals, operational protocols, and detailed activity reports.
    • Instrument Testing: Lead the testing and piloting of survey instruments to ensure technical functionality and data integrity.
    • Translation & Localization Review: Audit survey tool translations and phrasing to ensure linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance, providing actionable feedback for refinement.

    Field Team Management & Evaluation

    • Recruitment & Training: Lead the shortlisting, evaluation, and comprehensive training of field teams to ensure full readiness for all project phases.
    • Performance Monitoring: Oversee regular evaluations of field staff throughout the data collection period to maintain high performance and data standards.

    Field Operations & Resource Oversight

    • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Monitor fieldwork and survey administration to ensure strict adherence to research protocols and the timely achievement of all project deadlines.
    • Asset & Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and use of project resources, including office space and field equipment such as laptops, tablets, and phones.

    Operational Management & Team Coordination

    • Adaptive Logistics Management: Oversee field logistics and proactively adjust operational plans to address changing conditions or unforeseen challenges.
    • Inventory & Asset Control: Ensure the secure storage and maintenance of project equipment and supplies, keeping an accurate and up-to-date inventory.
    • Team Communication & Reporting: Lead daily team debriefs and synthesize key updates into reports for the research team to ensure alignment.
    • Financial Administration: Prepare and review financial documentation for project activities as needed to ensure fiscal accuracy.
    • General Support: Perform additional duties as assigned to support evolving project needs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Policy, Social Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
    • 2–5 years of relevant professional experience, specifically in economic research, impact evaluations, or international development.
    • Technical expertise in both quantitative and qualitative data collection methodologies.
    • Proven experience managing large-scale field data collection operations.
    • Strong professional communication skills, including writing, client-facing interactions, and presentations.
    • Full professional fluency in English.
    • Core competencies: A self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, high versatility, and the ability to master new concepts at a fast pace.
    • Fluency in Hausa preferred
