Field Agent (Cooperative Collector) at Yenjay Consultancy Services Limited

Our client is looking to recruit Field Agents (Cooperative Collectors) who will play a vital role in the daily operations of our tech-enabled cooperative hub. The Field Agents will be responsible for daily collection of thrift contributions from members, onboarding and conducting KYC for new contributors, and ensuring timely remittance and accurate reporting of all field transactions. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, trustworthiness, and a commitment to delivering excellent service to cooperative members. They will also serve as the cooperative’s direct link with the community at the grassroots level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect daily thrift contributions (savings) from registered members in assigned locations.
• Ensure accurate recording of all member contributions.
• Conduct field-level onboarding and KYC verification for new contributors.
• Remit all collections daily to the cooperative’s designated account or office.
• Submit timely and accurate daily/weekly reports of collections, member activities, and field observations.
• Maintain strong relationships with members, addressing basic inquiries and escalating issues when necessary.
• Safeguard collected funds and ensure zero tolerance for misappropriation or delays.
• Support cooperative growth through active member engagement and mobilization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Must reside in Port Harcourt.
• Trustworthy with good interpersonal skills.
• 2-3 years relevant work experience in the stated industries (see above)
• Minimum of OND; higher qualifications are an added advantage.
• Prior experience in field collections, microfinance, agency banking, or cooperative societies preferred.
• Strong numeracy and basic record-keeping skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
• Must be trustworthy, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision. 
• Resides within or familiar with the assigned coverage area.

RELEVANT INDUSTRY / FIELD EXPERIENCE

• Microfinance & Cooperative Societies – Loan officers, thrift collectors, or cooperative field staff.
• Agency Banking / Fintech Agent Networks – POS agents, mobile money operators, or agent banking officers.
• Field Sales & Direct Marketing – Sales representatives, field marketers, or subscription collectors.
• Community Mobilization & NGO Field Work – Community officers or mobilizers with grassroots engagement experience.
• Insurance Field Agents – Used to premium collection and regular remittances.
• Traditional Collectors (Ajo/Esusu/Adashe system) – Experience with informal thrift collection or rotating savings groups.
