    Facility Manager (Hospital Environment)

    Department: Facilities Management / Operations
    Reports To: Head of Operations

    Job Summary:

    The Facility Manager is responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and safety of all physical infrastructure, equipment, and support systems within the hospital. This includes overseeing building systems (electrical, mechanical, plumbing), ensuring regulatory compliance, managing vendor contracts, and coordinating facility-related projects. The role plays a key part in ensuring a safe, functional, and patient-friendly environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the maintenance and operation of hospital infrastructure.
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare facility standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
    • Supervise facility maintenance staff and coordinate janitorial, security, gardening, and waste management teams.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all hospital systems and equipment.
    • Manage budgets related to facilities repairs, utilities, and capital projects.
    • Coordinate space planning, renovations, and repairs while minimizing disruption to patient care.
    • Liaise with vendors and service contractors to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
    • Lead response efforts for facility-related emergencies (e.g., power outages, equipment failure, flooding).
    • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and resolve issues promptly.
    • Maintain records of facility assets, warranties, and maintenance logs.
    • Ensure proper waste disposal practices.
    • Support sustainability initiatives and promote energy-efficient practices.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Building Services, or a related field. A Master\'s or healthcare facility-specific certification (e.g., IFMA certifications) is an advantage.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in facility or operations management, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
    • Strong knowledge of hospital safety codes, infection control standards, and building regulations.
    • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Good financial and project management abilities.
    • Proficiency in facility management software and MS Office Suite.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    Working Conditions:

    • Regularly required to move throughout hospital premises and mechanical areas.
    • May be on-call to respond to emergencies during off-hours, weekends, or holidays.
    • Work involves exposure to construction zones, mechanical systems, and emergency repairs.
