Engineering and Maintenance Manager at Precious Palm Royal Hotel

Role Description

• This is a contract role for an Engineering and Maintenance Manager. The position is on-site and located in Benin City. The Maintenance and Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, functionality, and operational readiness of all building systems, infrastructure, mechanical assets, and utility services across the facility. This includes managing preventive and corrective maintenance, supervising technical staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and overseeing the repair and upkeep of equipment, building structures, and engineering systems.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Equipment Maintenance and Repair
• Experience in Preventive Maintenance and Maintenance Management
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facility Management, or a related field
• Prior experience in a hotel or hospitality setting is a plus
• Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Professional certifications in any of the following: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical Installation, HSE (Health & Safety), Project Management (PMP), or CMMS operations.
• Minimum of 5–10 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance or engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven experience in multi-disciplinary maintenance operations in hospitality, real estate, or industrial facilities.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Mechanical Systems: Motors, pumps, generators, compressors, elevators, power tools.
• Electrical Systems: Three-phase & single-phase power, control panels, wiring, load balancing.
• Plumbing: Water supply, sewage systems, fixtures, pressure systems.
• Masonry & Civil Works: Concrete, blockwork, plastering, tiling, flooring, finishing.
• HVAC Systems: Air conditioning units, chillers, ventilation systems, thermostats, ductwork.
• Construction Management: Reading blueprints, supervising renovations and minor constructions.
• Machine Repair: Small engine diagnostics, workshop tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Building Automation Systems: BMS, fire alarm systems, surveillance systems.
• Energy Management: Efficient use of fuel, water, power, and energy-saving technologies.
• IT & Software: Basic knowledge of maintenance management systems (CMMS), Microsoft Office Suite.
