Role Summary:

As an Emergency Medicine Specialist you will specialize in the rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment of patients with acute and life-threatening medical conditions, providing expert care in the emergency department setting.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and manage patients presenting to the emergency department with a wide range of medical complaints and injuries.
• Perform rapid assessments, including physical exams and diagnostic tests, to determine the severity of patients’ conditions and prioritize treatment interventions.
• Initiate and coordinate emergency medical interventions, including resuscitation, airway management, and trauma care, as needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, respiratory therapists, and surgeons, to provide timely and comprehensive care to emergency patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing reassurance, education, and support during stressful situations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and disaster preparedness activities to enhance emergency department operations and patient outcomes.

Requirements:

• Medical degree from a recognized institution, with specialization in emergency medicine.
• Valid medical license to practice as an emergency medicine specialist in Nigeria.
• Board certification or eligibility in emergency medicine.
• Strong clinical skills and expertise in managing acute medical and traumatic emergencies.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
