We are seeking a professional Electromechanical Engineer to join our team on an on-going USAID funded Lagos Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Activity (LUWASH) project in Nigeria.
The objective of this project is to support our Client, The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), in the expansion and improvement of urban WASH service delivery and infrastructure through strengthened governance, increased accountability, and improved financial and technical capabilities of public water utilities and private sector providers.
Duties
Support in the preparation of design guidelines and criteria to include electromechanical system arrangements, electric energy/motor requirements, etc.
Design and oversee the installation of electrical and mechanical systems for water treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks.
Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to determine the most efficient and cost-effective solutions for water supply infrastructure.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop detailed engineering plans and specifications.
Provide inputs to prepare the technical specifications, drawings, and BOQ parts of the bidding documents for civil works in the sections related to electro-mechanical equipment
Review and feedback on contractor’s design documentation related to electromechanical equipment
Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in the design and implementation of electrical and mechanical systems.
Conduct inspections and quality control checks to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electrical and mechanical components of the water supply system.
Any other tasks assigned by the Sheladia home office/ client to ensure smooth project implementation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 10 years’ experience in the sector including 5 years in Urban Water supply and services projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, proficiency in computer- and the ability to work with a team are important.
Experience with electrical circuits, control systems, and mechanical design principles is highly desired.
