    Education Officer, (Gender)

    Purpose of Assignment

    The Education Officer (Gender), under the guidance of the Gender and Development Manager and the Education Manager, is responsible for providing technical support to ensure gender integration across all components of the ECW programme and implementing gender-targeted activities. This role focuses on enhancing gender equality and girls' education outcomes in alignment with the GLO result frameworks.

    Summary of Key Functions:

    • Support MYRP II partners in the implementation of all the gender deliverables of the MYRP II (gender mainstreaming and gender-targeted interventions) in line with ECW’s approach to gender-transformative MYRPs.
    • Lead the capacity-building and knowledge management on gender equality and the empowerment of girls and women in education in emergencies and protracted crises (EiEPC), with a specific emphasis on gender-transformative programming approaches.
    • Assist all MYRP II grantees/consortia leads to partner directly with women-led organizations and contribute to their institutional capacity strengthening.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Programme Management, Monitoring and Delivery of Results
    • Coordinate capacity development of MYRP II partners on gender-transformative programming in EiEPC
    • Support in the creation of strategic partnerships and alliance building with WLOs.
    • Support cross-sectoral collaboration for shared gender equality and girls’ and women’s empowerment outcomes.

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

    • A first university degree (master’s or higher) in one of the following fields is required: Gender, Social Sciences, International Development, Public Administration or another relevant technical field.
    • A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in gender integration in education in emergencies.
    • Experience in working with the Government and partners to provide guidance and support to promote interventions to increase the number of girls’ learning.
    • Experience in working with the Government and partners to reduce the number of girls who are out of school and increase the number of female teachers in schools.
    • Demonstrated experience with the design and delivery of gender-related programmes in emergencies, including developing and utilizing context-specific programming tools and guidance.
    • Demonstrated communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
    • Good background/familiarity with Northeastern Nigeria.
    • Experience in capacity-building and developing training materials.
    • Knowledge of results-based programme management experience is an asset.
    • Experience in gender programme/project development in a UN system agency or organization is an asset
    • Fluency in English and working knowledge of Hausa are required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset
