    Editor

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform comprehensive editorial work, including copywriting, substantive editing, and proofreading to ensure manuscripts meet high standards of accuracy, coherence, and quality.
    • Develop clear illustration briefs and provide formatting guidelines to Graphic Designers, illustrators and Typesetters for optimal manuscript presentation.
    • Strategically devise and implement editorial strategies tailored to different subjects, market needs, and target audiences.
    • Collaborate seamlessly with Typesetters, Graphic Artists, and other team members to produce high-quality, polished manuscripts.
    • Evaluate manuscript content and provide constructive feedback to authors for revisions and improvements.
    • Brief sales representatives on new titles, highlighting key selling points, target audiences, and potential market appeal.
    • Analyze market trends and review the performance of published titles, identifying areas for improvement and growth.
    • Source, review, and commission new manuscripts, reaching out to prospective authors for publication opportunities.
    • Ensure publications align with industry standards, curriculum requirements, and company publishing objectives.
    • Maintain organized documentation and secure storage of company manuscripts and book soft copies.
    • Handle additional tasks and duties as assigned by management or the Head of Department.

    Key Skills and Competencies

    • Attention to detail with strong Editorial Judgement
    • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with deep understanding of grammar and style.
    • Strong Organizational and project management skills, ensuring timely completion of editorial tasks
    • Great multi-tasking skill and ability to work under tight deadline with precision on quality
    • Team spirit and great collaboration skills to work efficiently with Authors, Designers and production team.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an advantage
    • Ideal candidate must be creative and innovative in developing engaging and market-worthy content
    • Knowledge of publishing software and Microsoft Office Suite -Adobe InDesign, MS Word Etc.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • B.A or B.Ed. in English Language. A second degree is an added advantage.
    • Not Gender-specific.
    • Candidate must be resident in Ibadan.
    • At least 2 years work experience as an Editor.

    Salary

    100,000-120,000 monthly (Depending on Experience)
