    Digital Marketing Manager

    Role Description

We are looking for a numbers-oriented Digital Marketing Manager with 5-8 years experience, who can help us increase the effectiveness of our SEO and digital ads, as well as analyse our data across from our website and social media channels across Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda)

    What are we looking for?

Candidates will be judged on their expertise in the following four areas:

    SEO

    • The candidate must understand both on-site and off-site SEO, and be able both to give recommendations, and ensure effective implementation of SEO practices across our content team.

    Paid Ads (Social and Search)

    • The candidate must have experience with digital marketing, in particular paid social media ads. They should have an understanding of the basic tools, as well as what works, what doesn’t, and how to improve effectiveness of ads over time.

    Data Analysis

    • Candidates MUST be conversant with numbers, and able to quickly create tables and visualisations showing our progress against goals for metrics across a number of channels (primarily via Google Analytics and our social media channels). They should be able to tell stories with data and provide actual useful advice based on the data.

    Competitor Research

    • The candidate should be familiar with using sites such as Google Trends, Ahrefs, Crowdtangle, Brandwatch and other methods to track competitors' activities and numbers. Experience with consumer surveys is a plus.

    Mindset

    • Candidates must be able to problem-solve and use data to experiment and find solutions to problems.
    • They should be enthusiastic and ready to learn new skills and change their opinions and actions based on evidence and feedback.
    • We are looking for candidates with drive and initiative.
    • The role will require you to immerse yourself into the role of sports news, to get a qualitative understanding of the subject matter, and to interact heavily with our content team to ensure frameworks and recommendations are being implemented.
    • This is a brand new role so the successful candidate will need to create many of the relevant stuctures and processes from scratch.

    Other Details

The role will be mostly remote, but occasional in-person attendance may be required. Candidates should be based in Nigeria or Kenya.
