Design Assistant at Owens and Xley

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Designer with fabric selection, pattern development, and sample creation.
• Research emerging fashion trends, silhouettes, colors, and materials.
• Support with sketching design concepts (hand or digital).
• Create and organize mood boards, look books, and design inspiration materials.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth sample development.
• Attend fittings, take notes, and share corrections with relevant teams.
• Maintain the design workspace, archives, fabric library, and sample room.
• Prepare design packs, specifications, and documentation for production.
• Assist with photoshoot preparation, styling, and creative content when required.

Qualifications & Skills

• OND / HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or related fields.
• Strong sketching ability (manual or digital: Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Photoshop).
• Good knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, and patternmaking.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Creativity, passion for fashion, and a willingness to learn.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
