    Data Privacy Team Lead  

    Job Overview

    Serve as the initial point of contact for all privacy-related concerns/questions, as well as for risk identification, assessment, escalation, mitigation, and consolidated data privacy related issues in the bank.

    Develop, implement, and drive Data privacy strategies & roadmap.

    Work on other data related tasks as assigned by the Head of Data Governance and Chief Data Officer.

    Key Responsibilities

    Overall Accountabilities

    • Develop and implement Data privacy strategies & roadmap.
    • Lead the maintenance of privacy and data protection policies, processes and standards that address privacy and data protection regulations worldwide.
    • Provide mentoring and technical leadership for privacy implementations.
    • Provides consultation and support to business units and functions and promotes awareness of privacy concepts, legal and regulatory requirements, company privacy and data protection policies, processes, and standard methods and tools.
    • Lead privacy and data protection impact assessments against business activity that involves personal information.
    • Identifies privacy risks, lead resolution and the development of mitigation plans, and recommends safeguards and controls.
    • Monitor privacy regulations, technology trends, business process changes, and developments in the privacy field.
    • Lead development of privacy policy compliance measures and consults and reports on Company privacy activities to ensure adherence with policies and procedures, regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Lead development and manages privacy risk management processes.
    • Develop processes and lead response to data subject rights requests and response to privacy incidents.
    • Guide development of privacy and data protection training and awareness materials for employees.
    • Assist in due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and subsidiary integrations, ensuring privacy risks are addressed and resolved.
    • Guides efforts of Sales and Marketing campaigns and projects to ensure privacy by design and compliance with privacy and data protection requirements.
    • Represents the company’s privacy interests with external parties.
    • Guide in designing and implementing the Privacy Risk Questionnaires (PRQ) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA/DPIA).
    • Collaborate with the business in reviewing, assessing, supporting and ensuring Businesses/Enterprise Functions complete Privacy Risk Questionnaires (PRQ) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA/DPIA).

    Leadership and Teamwork

    • Assist with recognizing and upholding digital security systems to protect delicate information.
    • Detail and communicates the data management strategy
    • Develop and deliver trainings and coaching for increasing Data Management within all segments of the Bank.
    • Ensure strong physical data protection controls are in place.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and transparency around data

    Customers / Stakeholders

    • Engage appropriate stakeholders in ongoing data protection exercise
    • Provide proper training and awareness for staff on data security requirements
    • Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with upper management, external stakeholders etc.
    • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards
    • Work proactively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best practices on data matters
    • Manage and own relationships
    • Assist in ensuring requirements coming from multiple areas are aligned and conflicts are resolved effectively
    • Advisory and Consultancy to our stakeholder community on Data Management related matters.
    • Take care of our customers privacy just as take care of their financial wellbeing and customer journey
    • Where appropriate partner with Group Legal, Data Protection Officer and Compliance to challenge and redefine privacy controls to achieve increased effectiveness and automation
    • Support a proactive privacy approach in support of our data privacy agenda, including “privacy by design”
    • Work with stakeholders to evolve Group Data Policy principles and align to Group values
    • Provide advisory, execution and governance support as needed in respect of regulation impacting Access Banks data agenda
    • Support regulatory engagement at group level and where necessary in support of subsidiaries

    Skills/Competencies

    • Knowledge of industry leading data privacy practices
    • Experience in local and global data privacy protection laws and practices as well as deep understanding of GDPR
    • Capable of independently conducting data privacy compliance, reviews, and audits
    • Must be comfortable in communicating in all levels within the organization. Can effectively communicate with regulators
    • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
    • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
    • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
    • Ability to provide a range of systems training and/or support activities for users.
    • Extremely organized with strong time-management skills
    • Ability to take direction and execute
    • Good communication skill (Oral & Written)
    • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
    • Problem Solving, Critical Thinking and Relationship Building

    Qualifications and Experience

    Mandatory 

    Desirable

    • University degree in Law
    • 5 years’ experience working with privacy or data protection laws and regulations
    • Experience implementing privacy frameworks, privacy principles and compliance requirements (e.g., privacy by design, ISO/NIST, GDPR, NDPR, etc.)
    • Data Governance Certification (CDMP, DAMA, DGSP, or CIMP Master Data Management)
    • IT certification and other professional qualification
