Responsible for equipment installation, materials loading and offloading operation as may be directed from time to time.
Calculate load capacity, determine weight of items to be moved in relation to the maximum capacity of crane based on manufacturers specifications.
Inspect clearances, overhead lines, and other possible obstructions to ensure there are no accidents or damage to employees, buildings, loads, or equipment.
Inspect and assesses ground conditions to ensure that the crane can be set up safely.
Operate crane in line with manufacturers specification.
Inspect cranes for defects and wear prior to operation; performs necessary repairs or maintenance.
Obtain necessary work permits from HSE (Entry and Lifting Permits) before entering restricted areas.
Conduct risk analysis and mitigate hazards in the course of his job.
Perform all duties in a manner that meets Greenville LNG’s Health & Safety requirements of no harm to persons, damage to the environment and asset.
Ensure the cleanliness of the equipment as well as carry our minor maintenance jobs such as greasing and keeping service records.
Notify the maintenance team of any mechanical concern with the crane.
Maintain truck logbook (in kilometres), gas issued record and truck movement details.
Inspect lifting accessories such as belts, hooks, clamps, wire rope, slings, and shackles and ensure they are fit for purpose.
Comply with all applicable federal, state, and company safety laws, guidelines, and best practices.
Coordinate with riggers via radio or hand signals to ensure safe handling/Lifting of loads
Any other duty that may be assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of SSCE with a valid class H driver’s license and crane operation competency certificate.
Minimum of ten (10) years’ working experience in operation of truck mounted cranes of up to 200 tons.
Technical knowledge of the different types of cranes and their operation, including understanding the load capacity of each crane.
Physical strength and stamina to operate heavy machinery for extended periods, as well as handle manual tasks when required
Knowledge of reading and interpreting load charts for different crane capacities and configurations.
Ensuring the stability of the crane before lifting heavy objects.
Ability to carry out in-service checks and prioritise jobs in line with line manager’s directives.
Knowledge of risk analysis and controls against accidents such as overturning, loss of load, load falling on operator, striking overhead cables.
Good knowledge of safe working procedures for slinging and lifting including hand signals.
Logging and documenting all lifting operations and maintenance carried out on the crane

Valid Mobile Crane Operations Competency Certificate
