Job Summary:

• This position involves supporting the implementation of disability-inclusive programs and activities in the community, promoting equal access to services and opportunities for persons with disabilities. The role involves raising awareness, identifying and referring persons with disabilities to services, and mobilizing community members to support disability inclusion.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Educate community members about disability rights, inclusion principles, and the importance of respectful attitudes.
• Challenge stigma, discrimination, and misconceptions about disability.
• Promote positive messaging on inclusion through meetings, home visits, and community events.
• Identify persons with disabilities in the community, including those who may be hidden or underserved.
• Conduct basic screenings or observations (non-medical) to recognize potential support needs.
• Refer individuals to appropriate services such as health care, rehabilitation, assistive devices, education, or social protection.
• Help persons with disabilities navigate local services and community structures.
• Accompany individuals to service points when needed.
• Advocate for reasonable accommodations to ensure accessibility (e.g., seating arrangements, communication support, prioritization).
• Encourage the participation of persons with disabilities in community meetings, trainings, and livelihood activities.
• Ensure that community feedback mechanisms are accessible.
• Support inclusive community structures such as disability committees or support groups.
• Maintain simple records of individuals identified, services accessed, and barriers faced.
• Report challenges and protection concerns to supervisors or disability focal points.
• Contribute to mapping of local resources and accessibility gaps.
• Recognize and report cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation involving persons with disabilities.
• Promote safe, respectful, and confidential interactions.
• Uphold principles of do-no-harm, non-discrimination, and informed consent.
• Help organize inclusive events, community clean-ups, or accessibility improvements.
• Mobilize households and local leaders to champion disability inclusion.
• Encourage participation of persons with disabilities in leadership and decision-making
• Participate in trainings on disability inclusion, protection, communication, and safeguarding.
• Share lessons learned and good practices with partners and community actors.

Skills & Abilities:

•  Ability to work in the area of disability inclusion.
• Strong knowledge on safeguarding of children and adults-at-risk.
• Excellent writing skills and an ability to communicate clearly and respectfully
• Fluency in oral and written communication skills; particularly in English language is a must.
• Fluency in local Languages.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadline minimal supervision
