About the role

• The role involves providing clinical support to the managed-care function, applying clinical judgement to authorization, case review, and care-coordination activities.
• The Clinical Support Officer acts as the clinical point of contact between the hospital, clinical teams, and scheme partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical input to pre-authorisation, case review and medical-necessity assessment within scheme rules.
• Support care coordination and discharge planning for enrolees, liaising closely with clinical teams.
• Review clinical documentation supporting claims and authorisations for completeness and appropriateness.
• Advise managed-care staff on clinical matters, supporting evidence-based, cost-effective care.
• Contribute to clinical audit and quality activities within the managed-care function.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with internal clinical policies.

Requirements
Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant post-registration clinical experience, including experience applying clinical judgement to case review, authorisation or care coordination.

Education:

• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognised institution.
• Completion of the required national housemanship/internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.

Required skills:

• Sound clinical knowledge appropriate to a clinical support role.Understanding of managed-care, authorisation and medical-necessity principles.Ability to review clinical documentation and apply sound judgement.Effective communication with clinical teams and scheme partners.Sound clinical record-keeping.
