Civil/Structural Engineer at AIM Consultants

Job Summary

The Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing, analyzing and supervising the construction of structural components of buildings and infrastructure. The role involves ensuring structural integrity, safety, stability and compliance with applicable codes and standards. The ideal candidate must possess strong technical ability, problem-solving skills and knowledge of modern design software.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural elements including beams, slabs, columns, foundations, retaining walls, etc.
• Prepare structural drawings, calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Perform load, stress, and stability assessments using relevant engineering codes.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical/electrical engineers and project teams to achieve functional and aesthetic design objectives.
• Review and approve construction materials to ensure compliance with design standards.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
• Identify structural issues, recommend modifications and provide timely solutions.
• Prepare BOQs, cost estimates and support procurement processes where necessary.
• Ensure compliance with local building regulations, safety standards and project timelines.
• Participate in project planning, quality control, risk assessment and progress reporting.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders professionally and efficiently.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field (Master’s an added advantage).
• Minimum of 5 years experience in structural design or construction engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar structural design software.
• Strong understanding of engineering codes and standards (e.g. Eurocode, ACI, BS Standards).
• Knowledge of construction practices, project management and site supervision.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Professional certification or COREN registration is an added advantage.
