The Civil Engineer under the guidance of the Project Manager, is responsible for the planning, design, execution, and supervision of civil and structural engineering projects within the Ibese Plant and Estate environment.
The role ensures that all civil works are delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with approved specifications, quality standards, and Dangote Group operational requirements.
The position also oversees infrastructure maintenance and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across plant facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, design, and execute civil engineering projects within the plant and estate.
Supervise civil and structural works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and HSE standards.
Monitor site activities and provide technical guidance to contractors and project teams.
Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction methodologies.
Conduct routine site inspections to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project timelines.
Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and project schedules.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure timely and quality delivery of projects.
Oversee the maintenance and integrity of civil infrastructure, including roads, drainage systems, buildings, and foundations.
Prepare and submit progress reports, site documentation, and project updates.
Identify project risks, implement mitigation measures, and resolve technical issues.
Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all engineering activities.
Collaborate with internal departments such as Legal, Procurement, and Human resources to ensure seamless execution of projects.
Implement preventive maintenance programs and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, preferably within an industrial environment.
Certification: COREN or NSE registration is an added advantage.
Skills :
Working knowledge of civil design, construction standards, and project execution principles.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software.
Good understanding of HSE practices and quality standards in construction.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
