Child Protection Officer - Nganzai at Green Concern for Development

Location: Nganzai LGA, Borno State, Nigeria
Duration: 6 Months

As part of this project, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Child Protection Officer to be based in Nganzai LGA, Borno State.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the implementation of child protection activities, including case management, psychosocial support (PSS), child-friendly spaces, and community-based child protection mechanisms.
• Identify and respond to vulnerable children at risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or violence.
• Conduct case assessments, develop care plans, and provide appropriate follow-up services in line with case management standards.
• Deliver age-appropriate PSS and life skills sessions to children and adolescents.
• Engage with caregivers, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote child safety, wellbeing, and positive parenting practices.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case files and documentation.
• Support data collection and reporting on protection indicators.
• Ensure that child safeguarding principles and confidentiality are upheld in all interventions.
• Collaborate with health, WASH, GBV, education, and livelihood teams to ensure integrated support for children.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor\'s Degree or HND in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Education, or other relevant fields.
• At least 2 years of experience working on child protection in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Solid understanding of child protection principles, case management, and psychosocial support.
• Experience working with vulnerable children, families, and communities affected by conflict.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage workloads, and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Fluency in English is essential; Hausa and/or Kanuri is a significant advantage.
• Willingness to be based full-time in Nganzai LGA.
