Chef / Cook at Westerfield College

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and prepare daily meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
• Ensure meals are cooked to meet dietary requirements, allergies, and preferences.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies.
• Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations.
• Supervise kitchen assistants or other support staff where applicable.

Person Specification:

• Proven experience as a cook or chef, preferably in a school or institutional setting.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate).
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Physically fit to handle a busy kitchen environment.
• Good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
• Experience in catering for large groups.
• Basic knowledge of nutrition and menu planning for young people.
• First Aid or relevant school environment training.
