Job Description

We are seeking to hire a Category Manager- Wells & Subsurface Operations for our client, one of Africa's leading independent E & P players. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing category contracting, procurement and spend management and governance process associated with well construction and subsurface operations. The focus is broadening relationship with contractors, identify trend, innovation, technology and opportunities to improve supply chain value and manage spend, while managing associated supply chain risks

Experience: 7-10 years in the Upstream oil and gas Industry

Location: Lagos

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Demonstrate a solid understanding of Contracting and procurement process, supplier relationship management and market /industry trend
• Mastery knowledge Nigerian upstream contacting processes and regulatory requirement
• Skilled in use of oracle ERP
• Comfortable working as part of a multidimensional and disciplinary team
• Exemplify a strong attention to detail
• Possesses superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines
• Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as Microsoft Office and G Suite
• Strong experience of petroleum agreements and working with regulators e.g. Niums, NCDMB and NUPRC
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• Capable of professionally managing confidential information
• Exemplify creative problem solving abilities.
• Analysing data or insights to determine industry and Market trends regarding Well Construction and Subsurface Product and Service category
• Formulate strategic long-term plan for Well contraction and subsurface service and product categories in consultation with internal business teams, Contractors, regulators, JV partners and stakeholders
• Conduct market intelligence, innovations, opportunities and trend within well construction and subsurface categories formulate appropriate contracting, sourcing strategies and contract management methods to enhance value.
• Execute sourcing events in line with approved governance standard and practice within the oil and gas industry.
• Build relationships with key vendors to improve pricing and quality of services • Lead category ranging, pricing, spend management and promotions across channels
• Issue in line approved protocol appropriate orders to ensure product availability meets demand
• Lead category management projects to optimise ranges and related procurements
• Collaborate with buyers, contractors and cross functional teams to expand product categories
• Forecast and Plan product and service demand to ensure sustainability of inventory and service availability
• Work with well construction and subsurface teams to Manage budget development for the category
• Developing strong working relationships with buying, marketing and internal stakeholders
• Ensure compliance to contract and procurement governance process
