• A "buttonhole machine operator" is a skilled textile worker who primarily operates specialized sewing machines designed to create buttonholes in fabric, ensuring precise stitching and consistent quality on garments or other textile products, often working within a production line in a garment manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities
Operating the buttonhole machine:

• Setting up the machine with the correct thread, stitch type, and buttonhole size based on garment specifications, and accurately feeding fabric through the machine to create precise buttonholes.

Quality control:

• Inspecting each buttonhole for proper stitching, evenness, and size, identifying and correcting any defects.

Thread management:

• Regularly monitoring and replacing thread as needed to maintain consistent stitch quality.

Machine maintenance:

• Performing basic cleaning and lubrication of the buttonhole machine to ensure optimal functionality.

Following production guidelines:

• Adhering to established production rates and quality standards.

Troubleshooting issues:

• Identifying and resolving minor machine malfunctions or stitch irregularities.

Required skills and qualifications

• Experience with sewing machines: Prior experience operating industrial sewing machines, particularly with buttonhole machines, is preferred.
• Hand-eye coordination: Precise control to accurately position fabric on the machine and maintain consistent stitch placement.
