    Butcher

    Summary

    • Butchers are responsible for preparing and cutting meat products with precision and care, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
    • They must provide excellent customer service, maintain hygiene standards, and contribute to the efficient operation of the meat shop.

    Tasks

    • Prepare, cut, and package various types of meat products according to customer specifications.
    • Ensure proper storage and labeling of meat to maintain freshness and quality.
    • Use knives, slicers, and other equipment safely and efficiently to process meat.
    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of work areas, tools, and equipment at all times.
    • Assist customers by recommending cuts of meat, answering questions, and providing information about preparation methods.
    • Monitor inventory levels, report shortages, and assist with restocking as necessary.
    • Adhere to safety and health regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of waste.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
    • May perform other related duties as requested by management.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a butcher or in a meat processing role.
    • Adequate knowledge of meat cuts and preparation techniques.
    • Familiarity with equipment used in meat processing and safety protocols.
    • Basic understanding of inventory management and food safety standards.
    • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a cold storage environment.
    • Formal training or certification in butchery or meat processing is an advantage.

    Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and precision in meat cutting.
    • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
    • Good organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work in a team and independently when required.
    • Physical stamina and strength to handle repetitive tasks and long hours.
