    Business Development Manager

    Job Description

    • Our client is seeking to hire a Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives by originating new business opportunities within the power sector and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) markets.
    • This role requires a deep understanding of the power industry including market trends, regulatory frameworks, recent policies and key stakeholders.
    • The candidate will drive business origination, manage client relationships, and actively contribute to achieving the company’s strategic objectives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Explore and identify potential business opportunities, new markets, and emerging trends within the Nigerian energy sector.
    • Develop high-quality business proposals, pitch presentations, and tender documents to secure new projects and clients.
    • Conduct thorough research on industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to inform business strategy and provide insights on potential opportunities and risks.
    • Manage key clients, ensuring high satisfaction levels, addressing concerns, and maintaining long-term partnerships with existing clients.
    • Lead the negotiation and execution of key commercial agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts, operation and maintenance (O&M) etc.
    • Collaborate with teams across departments to implement growth strategies.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on business development activities, market trends, and performance against targets, while contributing to the company’s long-term strategy.
    • Manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
    • A master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, MBA, CFA) would be highly desirable.
    • Minimum of 5 - 8 years post Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
    • Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.
    • Ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software.

    • Ability to think critically and develop long-term strategies for business growth.
    • Ability to spot and manage business opportunities.
    • Ability to work under little or no supervision
    • Proven ability to connect with industry leaders and key decision-makers.
    • Focused on achieving measurable business outcomes and meeting revenue targets.
    • Ability to work closely with teams including technical, legal and regulatory units to achieve business objectives.
