Automation Engineer at Rite Foods Limited

Job Purpose

• The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and optimizing automated systems and process control solutions to enhance production efficiency, reliability, quality, and safety.
• The role involves maintaining and improving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, drives, and control networks, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives, minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving operational excellence across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the entire plant on process automation and minimization of losses from process malfunction.
• Extract and analyse automation data and manage software licenses and versions.
• Support corrective maintenance in automation and process control via evaluation, troubleshooting and knowledge transfer.
• Manage calibration activities, software modifications, backups, parameter registration and version control.
• Access the performance of shift technicians and electrical technicians with regards to solving automation issues
• Access and train technicians and operators in automation process.
• Support inventory requirements for automation and process control.
• Prepare, execute and evaluate required software or automation modifications.
• Develop and implement automation maintenance policy and automation contingency plan (obsolence management)
• Organize third party services with regards to automation support (e.g. teleservice and emergency support).
• Support the production team in the translation of technical requirement from new product/recipe developments and implementation of these changes via modifications.

Qualifications

• First Degree or its equivalent in (Electrical Engineering) Electrical/Electronics, Control Engineering, Automation Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience in a well-structured FMCG (botting) company, with specific expertise in Krones Machines.
