    Associate / Senior Associate, Portfolio Management (Transportation & Logistics) (Infrastructure / Investments / Project Finance)

    Job Description

    • The individual will be responsible for the management of organization’s investment portfolio in the transportation and logistics sector.
    • This includes thorough and ongoing analysis of the risk profile of the portfolio as well as proactive monitoring and reporting on the performance of the respective investments.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee portfolio management for all the organization’s investments in the transportation and logistics sector.
    • Conduct financial analysis on existing investments for active portfolio management, including reporting and recommending interventions.
    • Liaise closely with company executives, industry specialists, and sector teams to gain insight required for enhancing investment decisions.
    • Apply knowledge and understanding of portfolio exposures and performance drivers to provide recommendations for the organization’s appraisal and selection criteria.
    • Provide valuable input for decisions regarding investment mix and policy, matching investments to the organization’s strategic objectives and balancing risk against performance.
    • Provide recommendations for improving the organization’s portfolio management process as required.
    • Keep abreast of market developments, economic conditions and trends to recommend appropriate strategies regarding the organization’s investment portfolio.
    • Liaise regularly with Audit, Legal, Risk, Finance, and other relevant units of the Corporation on all reporting and monitoring issues.
    • Prepare and present all waiver requests for portfolio assets.
    • Process disbursements and monitor conditions Subsequent for all loan and equity investments.
    • Recommend appropriate corporation policies for portfolio monitoring.
    • Follow up with periodic reporting requirements from clients, and prepare quarterly Portfolio Performance Reports, and other periodic reports as needed.

    Requirements

    • A strong First Degree in Finance / Accounting / Mathematics / Engineering / Economics / from a recognised university.
    • Relevant advanced degree e.g., Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field of study, will be advantageous.
    • Relevant certifications related to finance, engineering and / or portfolio management.
    • CFA is an added advantage.
    • 5-8 years’ experience with at least 4 years’ experience in direct portfolio management role.
    • Proficient in transaction modelling and understanding of transaction structures.
    • Project management and infrastructure financing experience.
    • Practical knowledge of risk management principles and techniques.
    • Excellent financial and data analysis skills.
    • Excellent financial modelling and valuation skills.
    • Strong quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and business writing skills, power of persuasion as well as the ability to interface directly and effectively with senior officers within and outside the organisation.
    • Experience in the preparation of financial presentation to a diverse audience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and application of financial tools for tracking projects.
    • Familiarity with legal documentation pertaining to loan and equity investments.
    • Advanced skill in the use of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
    • Fluency in writing and speaking English is mandatory.
    • French and / or Portuguese, will be advantageous.
    • Willingness to travel “out-of-station” with minimal prior notice.
