    Assistant Director (Business, Education, Services and Training)

    Responsibilities

    • Leadership Supervisory Role: The Assistant Director of Business, Education Services and Training (BEST) administers all activities of the department and identifies the business developmental needs and ensure consistency with core competencies and goals. Oversee the day-to-day activities of immediate subordinates to ensure smooth functioning of various services of BEST towards the attainment of the overall goals.
    • Programs Execution: He or she plans, organizes, and leads training programs, ensuring proper execution at all levels of the department. The Assistant Director of Training and Development also ensures consistency in the delivery and application of training standards across the business and oversees the planning, prioritization, and development of new training programs and initiatives, ensuring that these programs and initiatives are consistent with the business overall strategies, objectives, and needs.
    • Capacity Building Strategy and SMEs Development: He or she plays a strategic role in approving and developing effective training programs and materials, making regular modifications to programs where necessary. Oversee the activities of the BEST plan, to executive capacity building training and products for SMEs development within and outside the Chamber’s membership.
    • Analytics: He or she conducts research, approves, and makes further recommendations for appropriate learning management systems and databases. He or she develops, implements, monitors, and maintains both initial and ongoing outsourced training programs to members and the public.
    • Knowledge: The Assistant Director is tasked with the maintenance of knowledge in the Business Education Services and Training Department. He or she should be updated with the latest instructional technologies through the establishment of personal networks, attendance of workshops, reviewing of professional publications, and participation in professional industry associations.
    • Fund Raising: He or she Sources for and attract funding for the BEST Departmental activities and programs.
    • Board Engagement: The Assistant Director ensures that all administrative arrangements are made for the meetings of the BEST Board. Table all matters requiring deliberations/decisions at these meetings; take necessary follow-up action on decisions reached. 
    • Budget Preparation, Review and Execution: Prepare the BEST Department’s budget before commencement of annual activities and present for approval well in advance to ensure hitch-free activities in the year. 
    • Consulting and Advisory Services: Coordinate and offer business development advisory and consulting services. Provide tailored and innovative solutions for specific client (to members and non-members) business needs.
    • Business Development and Marketing Activities: The Assistant Director develops products and services in response to contemporary business needs and the needs of the customers. He or she coordinates the timely and effective publicity and marketing of the Department’s activities such as marketing of training rooms to members and non-members, patronage of the halls through referrals and adoption of other marketing approaches.
    • LCCI Conference & Exhibition Centre: Co-ordinate the activities at the LCCI Conference & Exhibition Centre, Ikeja.
    • Clients’ Booking and Payment: Effectively monitor the bookings and payments made by clients.
    • Reconciliation of Receivables: Ensure adequate record of income generated from the training halls through reconciliation of received cash/transfers with issued receipts.  

    Job Requirements/Competencies
    Education:

    • Bachelor of Science or its equivalence.
    • Master’s Degree (required) in Training & Development, Education, Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or any other related field.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 15 years working experience in a training and development capacity, preferably at a senior position such as the Head of Training and Development Department for six years.
    • He or she must have worked as a Senior Training Manager for at least 4 years.
    • The candidate must also demonstrate experience in content creation, maintenance of training processes, and the successful development of training and development programs.
    • The candidate should demonstrate experience in designing training materials.
    • A suitable candidate will also have a proven ability to foster mentoring relationships and programs and to drive the continuous results of managerial personnel.
