Assistant Compliance Officer at The School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University

Job Summary

• The Assistant Compliance Officer will be a professional of high ethical standard with the goal of preserving the university’s integrity by ensuring that it stays on a lawful and ethical course.
• The successful candidate will assist in monitoring regulations in all aspects and levels of the university operations as well as provide guidance on compliance matters and will report to the Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities

• Assist the compliance officer in the development of the annual compliance audit plan.
• Assist in the development and implementation of compliance audit program in line with the audit plan to ensure the university operates in accordance with all relevant laws, statutory obligations, and regulations.
• Assist in the determination of compliance metrics and establish a system for tracking them.
• Assist in the periodically review and revise of university-wide compliance audit risk assessments to report on risk levels, significance, and scope.
• Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside the university as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
• Ensure that adequate records are maintained of all compliance work and that failures on compliance are followed up until they are satisfactorily resolved.
• Assist in the review and update of SOPs and design program for monitoring compliance recommendations.
• Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contact with colleagues and attending professional development courses and training.
• Contributes to the overall success of the university by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Compliance Officer and Head of Internal Audit and Compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or HND in social sciences, business management, or a related field.

Requirements/Competencies

• 3 to 5 years' work experience.
• Good knowledge of legal requirements and procedures.
• Brilliant oral and written communication skills.
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
