Application Developer at First Excelsia

Annual Gross Remuneration: N5,000,000 – N5,900,000

Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Application Developer to join its technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications that support core business operations, with a focus on banking and mortgage systems.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient technology solutions that align with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining core banking and mortgage applications
• Leading the development of key modules such as loan origination and repayment systems
• Integrating internal applications with third-party platforms including payment gateways and credit bureaus
• Optimizing application performance, database efficiency, and overall system reliability
• Ensuring all applications comply with security, regulatory, and data protection standards
• Conducting code reviews to maintain coding quality and adherence to development best practices
• Mentoring junior developers and supporting technical knowledge transfer within the team
• Collaborating with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical solutions
• Participating in system architecture and design discussions for application scalability
• Troubleshooting software issues and implementing timely resolutions
• Maintaining technical documentation for developed applications and integrations
• Supporting deployment processes and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
• Performing other related duties to support technology and business objectives

Person Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 – 6 years’ hands-on software development experience
• Strong proficiency in C#, Java, Python, or Node.js
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, database design, and performance optimization
• Experience working with APIs, system integrations, and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as CI/CD pipelines and Docker is an added advantage
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and application security standards
• Knowledge of software testing, debugging, and version control systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• High level of attention to detail, accountability, and adaptability

Domain Knowledge

• Sound understanding of mortgage and loan lifecycle processes
• Working knowledge of financial regulations including KYC and AML principles
• Strong appreciation for data accuracy, audit trails, and system integrity requirements
• Experience within financial services, banking, or fintech environments is highly desirable
