The Sub-Editor for Aminiya will, among other job responsibilities, be responsible for ensuring that all news and feature content is accurate, grammatically correct in Hausa, and adheres to the company’s editorial standards.
Key Responsibilities
Content Management & Editing: Reviewing, editing, and curating news, features, and multimedia content in Hausa, ensuring accuracy, high journalistic standards, and adherence to company values.
Content Strategy & Planning: Creating content (both news and long-form) and setting the editorial agenda, including planning stories.
Digital Transformation: Driving digital adoption, including managing content for the Aminiya online platforms to increase digital footprint and audience engagement.
Mentorship and Supervision: Supervising reporters, sub-editors, and contributors to ensure the production of quality content.
Quality Control: Ensuring that all content meets the high standards of accuracy, ethical, and stylistic guidelines.
Performance Tracking: Monitoring audience feedback and industry trends to refine the content strategy.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Hausa language, or a related field.
Fluency in Hausa (written and spoken) is essential.
Strong knowledge of the Nigerian media landscape.
Exceptional command of the Hausa language.
Experience: At least 5 years of journalism experience, with a minimum of 2 years specifically as a sub-editor.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer usage and familiarity with digital publishing tools/CMS.
Soft Skills: Ability to work under intense pressure and meet strict daily deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
