    Agronomist

    Job Description

    • Develop and implement tomato production plans and schedules.
    • Monitor crop growth and recommend appropriate agronomic interventions.
    • Ensure proper land preparation, nursery management, transplanting, and harvesting activities.
    • Conduct soil sampling and analyze soil fertility requirements.
    • Develop fertilizer application programs based on soil and crop needs.
    • Plan and supervise irrigation schedules to ensure optimal crop performance.
    • Monitor soil moisture levels and water use efficiency.
    • Train, supervise, and guide farm workers on agronomic best practices.
    • Monitor field activities and ensure tasks are completed according to schedule.
    • Ensure compliance with farm operating procedures and safety standards.
    • Maintain accurate records of planting, fertilization, irrigation, pest control, and harvest activities.
    • Analyze production data and prepare regular agronomic reports.
    • Implement innovations that improve operational efficiency and sustainability.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, Soil Science, Horticulture, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in large commercial vegetable farming.
    • Experience with greenhouse and open-field tomato production is an added advantage.
    • Knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

    Skills:

    • Proficiency in data collection/data analysis,
    • Ability to work independently
    • Strong decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
    • Good communication and team leadership skills.
