Our client is a reputable clearing and forwarding company in Lagos. The company is now seeking to recruit an outstanding Accounts Executive.
Reporting to the Finance and Accounts Manager, you will manage all financial operations, from daily transactions and payroll to month-end reports, budgeting, and tax compliance, ensuring financial accuracy, profitability, and adherence to standards for management and stakeholders, focusing on revenue/cost control, cash flow, forecasting, and financial analysis. Key duties involve processing accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, stock control, managing budgets, and preparing P&L statements for operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable & Billing
- Payment Receipting: Process customers payments receipts and verifying customers refund request.
- Collections: Monitor outstanding client accounts, follow up on payments, and resolve any billing discrepancies swiftly.
- Client Statements: Reconcile customer accounts and generate periodic aging reports.
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Vendor Reconciliation: Verify vendor invoices against purchase orders and shipping manifests; reconcile supplier statements regularly.
- Freight Auditing: Ensure that carrier rates and surcharges match the agreed-upon freight contracts.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- General Ledger: Maintain accurate books of accounts, including journal entries, vouchers, and ledger maintenance.
- Reconciliation: Perform daily/monthly bank, cash, and credit card reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in generating Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, cash flow forecasts, and monthly management reports (MIS).
- Statutory Compliance: Ensure all financial operations comply with local taxation laws (e.g., VAT, withholding tax) and international trade finance regulations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: HND, bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional certifications (ACA, ACCA, CPA) are a distinct advantage.
- Experience: 2 - 5 years of proven experience in accounting, ideally within the shipping, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with ocean freight documentation (Bill of Lading, Sea Waybill, commercial invoices) and shipping terminology is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel
