Accountant at La Roche Nigeria Limited

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
• Manage all accounting transactions
• Ensure timely bank payments and monitor bank deposits.
• Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
• Ensure timely submission of tax returns and liaise with external auditors during audits.
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
• Prepare the schedules for statutory remittances (PAYE, Withholding tax, Pension, Company tax, ITF, NSITF, among others) and ensuring timely remittance.
• Maintain a complete and accurate Fixed Asset Register for the company        
• Provide technical support and advice on management.
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years proven experience as an Accountant in a trading or related industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
• Must have ICAN certification
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
