    • Budgeting and Forecasting: Creating budgets and financial forecasts is essential for planning and decision-making. Hotel accountants analyze past performance, market  trends, and future expectations to develop realistic financial targets. This involves working closely with department heads to gather input and align financial goals with operational strategies. Regular monitoring of budget performance and variance analysis helps identify areas for improvement and cost control.
    • General Ledger Management: Maintaining the general ledger, the central record of all financial transactions, is another critical task. This includes recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data. A well-maintained general ledger is the foundation for reliable financial reporting. • Internal Controls: Implementing and monitoring internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud is a vital part of the job. This includes establishing policies and procedures for financial transactions, conducting regular audits, and ensuring compliance with internal control standards.
