    Account Trainee

    Job Description

    The Account Trainee will assist the accounting department with various tasks and projects, providing support in the areas of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and audit preparation. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and training in accounting practices and principles, aiming to prepare the trainee for a successful career in accounting.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Enter financial transactions into the accounting system accurately and timely, ensuring all entries are documented properly.
    • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Reconciliation: Support in reconciling bank statements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Audit Preparation: Help prepare documents and schedules for internal and external audits.
    • Invoice Processing: Process invoices and expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns and other regulatory requirements.
    • Budgeting and Forecasting: Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing data and analysis as needed.
    • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Support in managing accounts payable and receivable, including generating invoices, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding balances.
    • General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including posting journal entries and performing month-end and year-end closings.
    • Ad-hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and assignments as required by the accounting department.

    Skills:

    • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to details and organizational skills.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Internship or prior work experience in an accounting or finance role is a plus.
    • This vacancy is at Ogba, Lagos. Proximity to the location is important.
