    Account Manager (Home Care)

    What You Can Expect

    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring and developing lasting customer relationships to identify business trends in and beyond the customer scope or respective portfolio for Home Care-I&I and Industrial Formulators.

    Duties
    Duties will include the following:

    • Be the first technical support point for the customers
    • Identify & attract new customers, pursue new applications & interact with corresponding functions, like Application Technologies, Marketing, Product Management and Supply-Chain, leading to profitable business
    • Apply the overall sales process, aiming to meet or exceed the sales targets and optimize profit and market shares regionally
    • Provide accurate sales forecasts, supporting efficient planning of products and services
    • Truly understand customer needs / requirements and find the adequate solutions for the customer aiming a unique value proposition
    • Negotiate and close deals or contracts with customers and provide operational guidance and support to his department to ensure implementation
    • Optimize product portfolio and customer portfolio considering local complexity and trends
    • Collaborate, cross - divisionally, with sales team members to achieve the Africa strategy targets
    • Contributes to bottom-up sales & delivery planning in line with egional strategy & BU sales management
    • Ensure that the agreed target KPI`s (volumes, cCM1, DSO) will be achieved
    • Ensure up to date sales planning forecast for all customers is communicated to relevant stakeholders
    • Represents actively BASF’s interests in the local market (e.g. industry associations, regional fairs and forums, regional events and lobbying)
    • Accurate and proactive on-time reporting about trends and opportunities (e.g. visit reports, forecast, opportunity pipeline, customer account plans.)
    • Operational guidance and support of the relevant OTC team 
    • Prepares comprehensive local market analysis with focus on market demand, needs and dynamics
    • Creates, implements, and updates regional sales concepts for the BU related industry taking the SBU strategy and the local sub regional strategy into account
    • Prepares and updates competitor profiles.

    What We Expect

    • Chemistry or Chemistry related background from a reputable university (MBA will be an advantage)
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in chemical industry and formulation
    • Sales and account management experience
    • Understanding the landscape and major players in West Africa
    • Value chain and application knowledge
    • Knowledge in product management, strategic marketing and market analyses.
