    Account Assistant

    About the job

    We are looking for a smart Account Assistant to collaborate with the company’s Accountant and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks and company projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounting tasks for various company projects while ensuring alignment of expectations with other team members.

    Job duties:

    • Assist the Accountant with the preparation of financial statements, reporting and analysis.
    • Prepare the cash/bank reconciliation at the end of each month to close the month’s books.
    • Process expense reports, prepare account reconciliation, and draft financial projections for separate projects/business lines.
    • Enter accounting transactions into the company’s accounting software and ensure accurate reconciliation of transactions.
    • Review procurement and other transactions to ensure all supporting documentation is attached and approvals are sufficient.
    • Support the Accountant in invoice management by reviewing and monitoring monthly invoices. Manage quotation requests from clients.
    • Assist with general accounts payable and accounts receivable duties.
    • Review accounting files to ensure that appropriate backup documentation exists for all transactions, including procurement requests, approvals, bids & proposals, invoices, quotations, and receipts,
    • Any other duties as may be assigned.

    Requirements:

    • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, or a related field.
    • Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ACA) or student at the skills or professional stage.
    • 1-2 years relevant experience.
    • Ability to multitask across different types of accounting-related projects.
    • High proficiency with Excel spreadsheet applications is required.
    • Knowledge of local taxation and payroll procedures.
    • Knowledge of Xero Accounting Software is desired.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple work assignments in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and exercise good, professional judgment.
