Webmaster/Administrator at Total Child School

Reports to: I.T Manager

Business Purpose/Objective: The Webmaster/Administrator is a person who manages the web. He is responsible for maintaining the organization’s website. He finds, creates and installs tools to create web content and check consistency. The webmaster takes editorial responsibility for the content, quality and style of the site. He provides first layer support for the users.

Core Working Relationships: Staff, Heads of Schools and Departments, Service Providers, Technology Committee.

Educational Requirements: Good (minimum of second class lower) B.sc in Computer Science or other related technical field e.g. relevant engineering field.

The critical education required are the following:

MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) or MCP

Experience:
The appropriate candidate for this role should have requisite web design application qualification and experience. A minimum of two full year’s hands on working web development experience is required.

 Technical Competencies

• Sound knowledge and hands on web technology experience Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, Perl, ASP.NET, Flash DHTML, SQL, Dreamweaver, .Net and programming (c# or VB)
• Sound knowledge of arts and graphics
• Good working knowledge of CMS application Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, Express Engine
• A thorough knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques.
• A sound knowledge of Database management server
• preferably SQL Server 2008
• Familiarity with the W3C’s work
• Full CRUD application.
• Microsoft SharePoint

• Good knowledge and use of English Grammar is critical, in addition to good writing and general oral communication skills.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that the web servers, hardware’s and software are operating accurately
• Designing the website, generate and revise web pages
• Add updated and new web pages in a timely way
• Ensures that links are operational and web pages errors are quickly resolved
• Replying to users comments
• Examining, monitoring traffic through the site
• Overseeing the site construction, maintenance, content management and placement
• Maintains Web system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor
