    Media Specialist

    Job Purpose

    • To support the Senior Technical Advisor Media in the day-to-day delivery of duties.
    • To be involved with developing and implementing innovative SBCC strategies for HC3.

    Duties

    • Assist the Senior Technical Advisor-Media to coordinate media distribution across Nigeria and specifically in HC3 states, in tandem with partners;
    • Support the STA-Media, in identifying, capturing and archiving Project-based Success Stories across HC3's Project states;
    • Work with monitoring and evaluation staff to monitor progress towards the delivery of programme outputs, paying special attention to the objective of documenting the success (e.g. collecting most significant change stories), or otherwise, of USAID/HC3 interventions with a view to providing evidence of impact and demonstrating good value for money.
    • Support the development of user-friendly and high quality documentation products: video documentary films and photo documentation, success stories etc. For the communications of project activities to the public and stake holders.
    • Support the designated STA in the coordination of Springboard activities with a view to enhancing extensive participation of partners and professionals and fostering its role as a key technical platform for exchange of knowledge and expertise in malaria communication.
    • Work to ensure that all generated progmnnne documentation and printed materials are presented in the required standard format confirming compliance with the USAID branding policies and visual identify and style guidelines.
    • Actively participate in the monthly ACSM sub-committee meetings and other related SBCC meetings.
    • Keep abreast of national news and when possible, state news for HC3 products to the state level.
    • Assist designated STA in ensuring that visibility for USAID is enhanced in all relevant project events by publicizing USAID/HC3's accomplishments and the difference that USAID is making.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Technical Advisor, Media.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in Arts/Humanities or Social Sciences;
    • Ability to write, adapt and translate with accuracy, clarity and style appropriate to differing audiences and forms of media.
    • Good computer skills and the ability to use audio/video recording equipment and a working knowledge of Adobe Audition, Premier Pro and Photoshop softwares.
    • Good interpersonal and time management skills.
    • Excellent creative instincts and the ability to originate new ideas.
    • Ability to work under pressure with little or no supervision and must be a self-starter.

    Top Skills:

    • Writing and structuring information (technical communication writing)
    • Interviewing skills - information gathering experience - documentation;
    • A good command of English and Hausa Languages and the ability to communication effectively.

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • Extensive first hand experience and in depth understanding of the culture and working of media in Nigeria.
