    Chief Mechanic

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Maintain and repair mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment onboard the rig.
    • Perform daily inspections and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
    • Supply information to assist in the development of maintenance and repair budget.
    • Assist in maintaining marine equipment i.e. cranes, thrusters, ballast pumps and valves, auxillary equipment, etc.
    • Ensure that service, maintenance and other operational reports are accurate and complete
    • Liase with the marine department regarding the loading, ordering and use of fuel, potable water, and drill water in consideration of rig’s stability.
    • Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to technical field support
    • Carry out classification society surveys as part of continuous survey of machinery.
    • Plan and coordinate with other department’s prior t any major activity such as rig moves, running and retrieving BOP, etc.
    • Inform supervisor and other departments heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig
    • Prepare annual performance appraisal for all subordinates. Recommend promotions or disciplinary action up to and including discharge.
    • Maintain an adequate supply of spares in order to fulfill maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation
    • Troubleshoot and repair faulty mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic drilling equipment and tools.

    QUALIFICATION:

    • MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
    • Valid medical examination and vaccination certifiactes

    EXPERIENCE:  6 Yrs. Above
