Feed Mill Manager at Eltees Farms Limited

Summary

Provides leadership, consultation, strategic operational plans and direction to enable both feed manufacturing and deliveries to produce and deliver feed of the best quality in a timely manner. Performs administrative duties in preparing and maintaining records, reviewing production reports, and following through on deviations from expected results and goals.                 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

• Directs feed manufacturing and feed deliveries in carrying out the approved programs.
• Performs administrative duties in preparing and analyzing reports and records.
• Actively pursues acquisition of information or skills to manage feed manufacturing and deliveries.
• Holds supervisors and employees accountable for feed manufacturing and delivery.
• Manages the learning and training of subordinates to continually improve their skills and knowledge.
• Maintains close and effective working relationships with the poultry production departments, accounting, technical services and vendors.
• Performs other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities  

• Manages the feed mill staff including a deputy.
• Periodic appraisal of staff
• Interviewing, hiring, and training employees
• Planning, assigning, and directing work
• Appraising performance
• Rewarding and disciplining employees
• Addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience 

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in agriculture, science or a related area; and five years progressive experience in poultry production or related area.
• Higher National Diploma (HND) in agriculture, science or a related area; and ten years progressive experience in poultry production or related area.

Language Skills                     

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from stakeholders.

Ability to effectively present information to top management.

Mathematical Skills                     

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability                     

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills                     

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet (Excel) software and Word Processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities

Skilled in interpersonal relationships, conflict resolution, group presentations, and problem solving.
