IVF Consultant at Medical Art Center

Reports to:    Chief Medical Director

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the care of new and follow up patients from consultation through to completion of treatment, including Consultation - ET - Follow up appointments/consultations working in accordance with agreed protocols to ensure consistent medical treatment of patients and continuity of medical care for all patients.
• Monitor, develop, and coordinate treatment process for all infertility and IVF patients
• Provide initial patient consultation after consultation with physician, before meeting with CMD if necessary.
• Make decisions regarding patients’ medical treatment, drug regimes, timing of procedures, and referral for other treatments not available
• Propose improvements to protocols and procedures.
• Provide guidelines to the work process in the clinical team and develop appropriate standard operating procedures
• Ensure timely flow of clear, relevant information, using the most appropriate and effective communication methods to patients and team members.
• Make day to day clinical decisions, in accordance with established protocols.
• Ensure that all patients have the highest chance of achieving a successful outcome through thorough case analysis and decision making based on agreed protocols
• Provide honest communication about chances and limitations, and constant feedback to patients and colleagues.
• Consult, advise, monitor and perform appropriate surgical procedures for patients.
• Work with the embryology/diagnostic labs to encourage seamless work flow and the adoption of global best practices
• Work with the nursing department to coordinate IVF calendars, patient follow up schedules, and so on.
• Perform relevant research projects in association with the Chief Medical Director, keeping up to date with the latest developments in assisted reproductive treatments and techniques. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• MB.BS from a reputable medical institution, holding full registration with the Nigerian Medical Council
• MRCOG
• Post graduate training in Reproductive, Endocrinology and Infertility and/or other additional degrees would be added advantage
• Minimum of 10 years’ medical experience, with at least 5 years in reproductive medicine

• An empathetic approach to patient care and ability to communicate clearly, honestly and concisely in patient consultations, including the ability to deliver ‘bad news’ in a constructive and sympathetic manner.
• Experience and expertise in ultrasound and sonography  
• A team player as a member of the medical function.
• An innovative approach, open to new ideas and able to implement protocols, procedures and management initiatives with his/her medical colleagues.
• Excellent customer service skills, exhibiting courteous, compassionate, and respectful treatment of internal and external customers at all times.
• Must consistently display a positive attitude and flexibility in changing situations.
• Must have excellent communication skills and make it a priority to consistently communicate positively and professionally with all staff members, physicians and patients.
