Location: Abuja Liaison and Maiduguri with frequent trip to communities/LGAs within FCT, Borno and Cross River states.
Duration: 4 months with possibility of renewal
Start Date: As soon as possible, but not later than 5th Feb, 2020
Salary: This is an unpaid internship (NO SALARY WILL BE PAID) and interns will be working approximately 25 hours/week.
Key Job Responsibilities
Position Summary: The post holder shall provide support to the programme team and manage in close working relationship with National Coordinator and state office programme team to manage external communication and audience throughout GREENCODE’s stakeholders using contemporary media + social media.
Responsibilities
Content Creation:
- Develop quality and updated content for GREENCODE’s website and blog
- Developing and publishing creative content for all GREENCODE’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram
- Assisting in planning and compiling monthly e-Newsletter and circulating to a wider stakeholder using the comprehensive list complied by the post holder.
- Monitoring web performance using Google Analytics
- Working with National Coordinator and project teams to create a new online archive for photo contest submissions.
- Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and strategies for marketing and communications
GREENCODE’s work to the wider society.
- Working with project team will develop Infographics, Videos or other multimedia content.
- Helping plan and implement social media campaigns that inform and influence how people think about pivotal issues like the IDP/refugee crisis, ending poverty, and global health and nutrition.
Social Media Engagement /Visibility:
- Support project officers across all states and programme areas/projects in developing, implementing and evaluating social media plans based on GREENCODE project objectives.
- Ensure proper and selective use of social media for target audience.
- Identify potential opportunities and risks which might arise through audience engagement and propose solutions.
- Working closely with the program team to determine digital communication goals for reach and engagement through social media.
- Use social media tools for efficient planning and management of social media channels.
- Work with & Senior IT/ Comms officer to ideate and produce creative content for social media.
- Use existing data, facts & reports to produce social media content for dissemination on Pact West Africa social media channels.
- Using existing and new content, create messages for dissemination on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn & Instagram.
Video, Audio and Photographic.
Ability to handle camera in taking quality video and photos that will be used in different communication tools of GREENCODE.
Work with the project team to produce quality podcast for sharing across different stakeholders.
Undertake video editing
Communication and Reporting:
- Provide weekly reports to National Coordinator officer on performance of social media activities
- Advise personnel at all levels on standards and best practices for GREENCODE communication and social media.
- Support in the development and implementation of GREENCODE Communication Strategy.
- Continually stay informed on latest social media technologies and practices to ensure effectiveness of GREENCODE digital communication network.
- Recommend and pilot new and emerging approaches to digital communications on social media
- Monitor and facilitate communications through social media channels.
- Perform other duties as needed to ensure the healthy functioning of Pact West Africa’s digital communications ecosystem.
- Undertake story telling as mean gathering Human Interest stories for assessing the impact of GREENCODE work in Nigeria.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma, HND or B.Sc in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Communications, International Relations or related field required.
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Passionate about storytelling and communications
- Talent for learning new skills quickly.
- Creativity and willingness to contribute ideas.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to work independently but also thrive in a team
- Self-motivated and flexible along with a can-do attitude.
- Highly organized and detail oriented in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience or familiarity with website production.
- Multimedia, graphic design, video editing and photography skills desired, but not mandatory.
- Must be able to work 30 or more hours a week
- Minimum 1 year of work experience required in the field of digital communications, media marketing, or relevant field Required.
- At least 1 years’ experience in social media content creation required
- Outstanding skills in communications, and understanding of media, multimedia and social media required.
- Experience with digital analytics and other social media tools for efficient management of digital communications is preferred.
- Understanding of international development; international relations; or environmental and other relevant issues preferred.
- Fluency in written and spoken English language is a must, knowledge of other native languages is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex multicultural and multinational environment preferred.
