Senior System Engineer at TechAdvance

Job Purpose

• The purpose of this role is to ensure the bringing together the component sub-systems into one system (an aggregation of subsystems cooperating so that the system is able to deliver the overarching functionality) and ensuring that the subsystems function together as a system.

Responsibilities

• Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
• Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
• Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
• Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
• Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web-based business applications.
• Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software.
• Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards.
• Develop, refine, and tune integrations between applications.
• Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.
• Research and evaluate a variety of software products.

Requirements

• B.Sc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
• 2 - 4 years’ experience in a similar role
• Good experience with PHP
• Proven working experience in setting up and working on UNIX /Linux based environments.
• Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products
• Proven experience with systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Experience using AWS and other cloud services
• Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
• Experience with monitoring systems and usage of automation tools
